Often, the first time a parent learns about evaluations is when a teacher or doctor tells them to go get one. But people use so many different terms—psychoeducational, neuropsychological, behavioral, psychosocial—what’s the right kind of evaluation for you and your child? Do different evaluations produce different kinds of information? Does it make a difference whether you get an evaluation through the school system, through a hospital, or through a private practice?
Neuropsychologist Danielle diFilipo, PhD, of Small Brooklyn Psychology, helped us understand the differences and the overlap among these different terms. She and Dr. Mandi White-Ajmani spent time at the end answering questions from participants.
